Eyebag And Tear Trough Treatment

Eyebag and Tear Trough Treatment

Our eyes are usually the first feature that draws people’s attention to our face. However, it is also the first area to show signs of age. Our eyes blink more than 10,000 times per day involuntarily. This causes tremendous stress to our delicate eyelids, accelerating formation of crow’s feet and fine lines beneath our eyes. Through volume loss and skin laxity, the fat pad around the eyes start drooping as support by the muscles and skin weakens. This results in the subsequent development of tear troughs and eyebags.

Eye ageing through
the years

Early 20s to 30s
  • Inherited tear troughs appear as Indentation, noticeable at under eye region
  • May have beginning of dark eye circles devleopment
Mid 30s
  • Late onset of tear troughs due to malar fat pad atrophy
  • Infraorbital fat pad herniation, giving rise to appearance of eyebags
  • Rhytids and finelines around the eyes beginning of excess skin accumulating below eye
40 years onwards
  • Worsening of excess skin
  • Loss of elasticity resulting in upper eyelid hooding

About the treatment

Besides being effective in facial sculpting and contouring, injection of dermal fillers can be used to fill out the sunken hollow around the eyes, filling out the tear troughs, and partially mask the eyebags. Dr Heng will first assess your condition to determine to severity of the condition and whether you are a suitable candidate for the treatment. During the procedure, dermal fillers will be placed through injections at precise locations and depth to improve the appearance of the eyebags, and correct the tear troughs.

We understand that every patient has different aesthetic concerns and needs. Besides hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, Dr Heng has a variety of treatment tools at his disposal to deal with different signs and symptoms of aging. Therefore, patients who have more severe eye aging usually benefit from a combination of two or more of the following treatments.

Dermal fillers (Juvederm)

The tear trough depression can often be treated with cross-linked HA dermal filler as it is reversible with hyaluronidase, giving patients and their practitioners reassurance. The cross-linking product of the Juvederm Volbella or Juvederm Volift produces an astounding effect which last between 12-14 months. The thickness of the filler has to be chosen correctly as it varies according to different patients based on the state of their eye condition.

Rejuran PDRN skinbooster

This is a new and highly innovative product from Korea that is fast gaining popularity in Singapore. The product consists of DNA fragments to stimulate cell regeneration and wound healing. The clinical papers from Korea has shown that the DNA fragments within the product improves skin elasticity, pigmentation, and overall skin health.

Botulinum toxin (Botox/Xeomin, Dysport)

A combination of dermal fillers and botulinum toxin can achieve natural eye rejuvenation results that are long-lasting as well.

Laser resurfacing

Frequently, the eyelids and surrounding skin have fine lines, wrinkles, and visible sagginess that come with the tear troughs and eyebags. A resurfacing laser that helps to tighten skin and refine pores rounds up the eye rejuvenation process nicely, making the eyes more refreshed and youthful in a natural way.

Laser tightening

One of the main causes of periorbital fat herniation is the progressive laxity of the surrounding structures within the orbital septum. By skillful application of our Tightening Laser, the orbital structures can be tightened to improve the effect of droopiness, tiredness and laxity that contributes to the eyebags.

Soft tissue tightening, contour effacement, and skin rejuvenation are the three pillars for a successful non-surgical eye rejuvenation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Little to no pain will be experienced during the procedure. The procedure will be done through small needles or micro cannulas, which are blunt needles. This reduces the trauma on underlying tissue structures. Juvederm dermal fillers that Dr. Heng use for tear trough and eyebag correction contains an anesthetic solution within, which helps greatly in reducing the discomfort of the procedure.

There is little to no downtime for injectable treatments like hyaluronic acid dermal filler and botulinum toxin. If you are doing a skin resurfacing laser, there may be mild redness and peeling for 2-3 days.

Every patient is unique, and we understand that all our patients age differently. Most patients can see improvement with one treatment session. However, if the signs of aging are more severe, the patient may require more treatment sessions, or an introduction of another procedure to correct the problem.

The cost of the procedure depends on the treatments to be done, which in turn depends on the needs and concerns of the patient. This varies on a case by case basis. Since we offer individualized treatments, we prefer that you come in for a consultation so we can obtain a more accurate quote for you.
